COBRA AM1055 FLOATING/WATERPROOF 2-WAY RADIO (Up to 12km Range)

The Cobra CR1035 is a rugged, floating, and waterproof two-way radio (walkie-talkie) designed for demanding outdoor and adventure use. It belongs to Cobra’s Adventures or similar series, emphasizing durability in wet, dusty, or extreme environments like camping, kayaking, hiking, hunting, boating, or emergency preparedness.

Key Features

Floating & Waterproof Design: IP67-rated (fully dustproof and submersible in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes). It floats if dropped in water, with a BURP feature to expel water from the speaker grill. Often features a bright color (e.g., orange accents) for easy visibility and recovery.

Long Range: Advertised up to 37 miles (real-world range varies significantly based on terrain, obstacles, weather, and conditions—typically reliable for a few miles in open or varied terrain).

Channels & Privacy: 22 FRS/GMRS channels with 121 privacy codes, providing thousands of channel combinations (e.g., 2662) to reduce interference.

NOAA Weather Alerts: Built-in receiver for 24/7 weather updates and emergency alerts.

Rewind-Say-Again®: Records and replays the last 20 seconds of incoming audio—very useful in noisy environments or when you miss a transmission.

Other Practical Features:

VOX (voice-activated transmit) with multiple sensitivity levels.

Patented VibrAlert for silent notifications.

LED flashlight.

Channel scan and memory locations (store/scan favorite channels).

Rechargeable NiMH AA batteries (often included; supports USB charging).

Design & Build

Compact yet sturdy: Roughly 19 x 6 x 3.8cm, weighing about 159 grams (without batteries in some specs). Rubberized grip for secure handling in wet conditions.

Includes belt clips, rechargeable batteries, and a charging dock in typical 2-pack bundles.

Performance Notes

Users praise its clear audio, build quality, waterproofing/floating capability, and handy features like the rewind function and weather alerts. It’s well-suited for group activities where cell service is unreliable. Real-world range is often shorter than the max claim (common for all FRS/GMRS radios), but it’s competitive in its class. Battery life is generally solid for a day of use, though it depends on settings and transmission frequency. Some users note the belt clip can be fragile, and older charging tech (e.g., micro-USB in some versions) is a minor drawback.

Ideal for Outdoor enthusiasts, boaters, hunters, families on adventures, or anyone needing reliable off-grid communication.
